Uniqlo’s ‘lightweight’ puffer coat under £50 comes in six shades

With the weather starting to warm up and sun creeping into parts of the UK, having a jacket that works for this tricky to dress for in-between period is key. If you find yourself feeling chilly in the morning yet baking hot by the afternoon, you might want to consider adding the highly-rated Uniqlo compact jacket into your arsenal.
The lightweight yet ‘really warm’ jacket is made from hollow fiber padding that traps air for warmth, but is incredibly thin and compact. It can be easily folded up and put away if you do find yourself not needing it during the day and it even comes with a storage pouch for carrying.
Priced at £49.90, it’s ideal for layering and comes in six stylish colours – white, pink, grey, black, beige and olive. The jacket can be used as an outer or inner layer depending on how you wish to style it and it boasts an anti-static lining.
Other spring jacket options include this Seasalt Cornwall Ballad Denim Jacket – it was £80 but is now on sale from £32.95. Shoppers say it ‘goes with so many items’ in their wardrobe and is ‘very comfortable to wear’. We’re also a big fan of the Marks and Spencer Thermowarmth Quilted Collared Jacket. It’s £45 and customers say it is ‘great for this time of year’.
But, when it comes to the Compact Jacket from Uniqlo, more than 200 people have left reviews, with many adding it to their basket as they prep for spring.
One person wrote: “Airy jacket that still feels warm. Use it as an extra jacket under my thinner jacket on colder days. Can also be worn in spring. Handy to carry in the supplied bag. You can easily fold the jacket and it fits in your shopper/backpack. Handy if you go for a bike ride or walk and the weather changes unexpectedly.”
A second added: “Lightweight and compact, really warm, great as an underlayer or on its own on warmer days.”
Calling it ‘practical and elegant – a must-have’, someone else shared that they were so ‘satisfied’ with their purchase, they snapped it up in three more colours.
Confirming its practicality, another explained: “The jacket is just as I imagined, soft and light to carry around in case of cold but also to wear in spring on warm days.”
However, some shoppers have had sizing issues. Finding the jacket ‘too wide’, one customer was frustrated that if they got the smaller size ‘the sleeves and length will be too short’. The jacket is stocked in sizes extra extra small to extra extra large if you were concerned about finding the right fit.
You can purchase it on the Uniqlo website here for £49.90.
