Minnie Driver Gives Update After ‘Bad’ Car Crash in France 

Minnie Driver is recuperating after being involved in a recent car crash.

“Hi guys. Paris update is that I’m actually back in London,” Driver, 56, began an Instagram video shared Thursday, August 6, in which she laid in bed wearing a neck brace. “I’m sorry about the filter I put on this, but honestly without it, I just look appalling.”

According to the actress, she “got into a really bad car accident” earlier this week while abroad in France. Driver was traveling with her friend, Ben Homewood, at the time of the incident.

“We somehow walked out of it, well, we didn’t walk out of it — we crawled out of it,” she recalled. “We did get out of it alive. To be very clear, it was not our fault. We were driving on a country road in the middle of France and a car didn’t stop at at [an] intersection and was going at speed. We just T-boned it.”

Driver reiterated that she is “fine” following the collision and only sustained minor injuries.

“I got a sprained neck, and I’m really in shock and, sort of, cry all the time,” she added. “I’m gonna heal, and the reason that I’m not dead, honestly, is the car that we were driving. We were in this little, tiny Kia EV2. I’ve never been in a crash before, but the 360-degree airbags are what saved our lives. The fact that the entire car didn’t just crush us … is frankly astonishing.”

Following the accident, Driver is focused on her recovery.

“I need to celebrate the car that saved us because we’ve got families and people who love us,” the Emily in Paris actress, who is mom of 17-year-old son Henry, continued on Thursday. “I am so grateful to be alive, so Kia, you are a baller car company. You’re amazing, and thanks very much from me and my mate Ben Homewood, and my family and the people who love me.”

Driver, who has been in a relationship with Addison O’Dea since 2019, further acknowledged that she is still “processing” the ordeal.

“Shout out to the van driver who stopped and helped us before the ambulances arrived. Special mention to the car who slowed down took in the scene and drove off without stopping,” Driver captioned her upload. “I guess this is the Dao of the world, the light and the dark. My brain keeps replaying the crash which is very hard but seems to be a necessary part of processing. Weeping too, feels good and helpful.”
