Daniel Seavey Dedicates ‘Fallin’ to Why Don’t We Bandmates: WATCH

After getting through a “nightmare” legal battle with their former managers last month, the boys formerly known as Why Don’t We are more united than ever. On Wednesday night, Daniel Seavey performed the group’s song “Fallin’ (Adrenaline)” during his solo show and dedicated it to his groupmates, all of which were in the crowd that night.

“There they are! They’re here. I love y’all,” Seavey said, pointing at Jonah Marais, Jack Avery, Zach Herron, and Corbyn Besson in the crowd. “This one’s for you.”

The performance (and dedication to his groupmates) was especially poignant since it comes a month after a jury verdict concluded that the band had breached their contract with Signature Entertainment and will not be able to use their name “Why Don’t We” as a group. The band also lost a defamation aspect of the lawsuit after accusing their former manager David Loeffler of abuse.

“I have to face the reality that songs I poured my heart into – songs about love, heartbreak, my deepest anxieties, and uggles with self-worth, are not mine,” Seavey previously said about the lawsuit. Seavey, who was removed from the Signature contract, took the stand as a witness during the trial. The group’s legal battle spiraled after Seavey claimed he co-produced and wrote much of the group’s last album but was forced to give credit and higher royalty percentages to another man, who was involved in the project, but allegedly not to the extent of Seavey.

Seavey has incorporated “Fallin’,” which he co-produced on the band’s final album The Good Times and the Band Ones, on his new tour celebrating his debut album Second Wind, which dropped March 7. During the Los Angeles show, Seavey also covered “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” by Role Model following a request from a fan.

The boys of Why Don’t We went on hiatus after being sued nearly three years ago. The heated legal battle prevented the band from touring its last album. Each of the members are pursuing solo careers.

Seavey’s Los Angeles show comes early in his Second Wind tour, which will see him tour the United States through April before heading to Europe in May and Australia in June. “When I created this album I built it all around the idea of my live show,” he said after announcing it. “I imagined the live rendition for every single song at the same time I was creating the song. you have no idea how excited I am to bring it all to life for you.”
