Plaza’s rep confirmed to People in April 2026 that the actress is expecting a baby with Abbott, with a source adding that the little one is due this fall. Plaza and Abbott had not publicly addressed their relationship status before the pregnancy news.

More than one year prior, Plaza’s husband, Jeff Baena, died by suicide at the age of 47 in January 2025. Plaza and Baena had quietly separated in 2024.

The pair were costars in the Off-Broadway play Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, as well as the 2020 film Black Bear.

“He cares, but he also doesn’t care; it’s the best recipe for me for a scene partner. It’s fun and it’s also good and it’s also safe. I like to just throw things out the window also and laugh and mess around and not take it so seriously.
