Tyler, the Creator Reveals New Album ‘Don’t Tap the Glass’

The artist teased the upcoming project the day before on social media
After teasing the the release of a new project earlier this week, Tyler, the Creator revealed his next album Don’t Tap the Glass will arrive on Monday.
During his show in Brooklyn on Friday night, Tyler reportedly shouted out the album title and outside his concert at Barclays Center there was a massive figure enclosed in a clear box that read “Don’t Tap the Glass.” Variety also confirmed the album’s upcoming drop.
A few days prior, the artist hinted that something would be heading to fans next week, with Tyler sharing images on Instagram of a Louis Vuitton bag, a mannequin’s head, and a trumpet player in a band uniform all labeled with the date July 21. Last month, Doechii and Tyler previewed their new Pharrell-produced track “Get Right” during Louis Vuitton’s fashion show in Paris. It’s unclear if the collaboration will appear on Don’t Tap the Glass.
Elsewhere on Friday evening, the Grammy winner’s Golf Wang site updated with merch for the new project that included a CD, vinyl, t-shirts, and hats marketing the forthcoming release.
Don’t Tap the Glass is set to be Tyler’s ninth album following last year’s Chromakopia. The album featured an hefty list of collaborators including Doechii, Childish Gambino, GloRilla, Lil Wayne, Lola Young, Santigold, Teezo Touchdown, Schoolboy Q, and Sexyy Red. In a Rolling Stone review of the record, music writer Jeff Ihaza observed that the LP sees the rapper reach “the conclusion of what feels like a career-long narrative arc, except even with Tyler as the director, real life doesn’t play out like in the movies.” He added, “Throughout Chromakopia, we find Tyler dealing with aging in a world very much of his own creation.”
