LANY Drop ‘Know You Naked’ From Album ‘Soft’: Listen

The track arrives ahead of the band’s sixth album, inspired by vulnerability: “The hardest thing to do is to fight against it — to stay soft,” says Paul Klein

LANY is back with a new single. On Friday, the indie-pop band dropped “Know You Naked,” on which frontman Paul Klein expresses his deep admiration for a lover’s physique. (Think “Your Body Is a Wonderland” lyricism.)

“I hope it’s okay for me to say it/Let me worship what my god created/Give it all to me (Give it all), every inch and curve,” Klein sings. “You’re a masterpiece, the wonders of the world are overrated/I don’t mean to stare/I’m just fixated, elated.”

Lany announced their sixth studio album earlier this week via Virgin Music Group, unveiling its 10-song track list, which includes titles such as “Act My Age,” “Stuck,” “Make Me Forget,” and “Destiny.” Of the album, Klein said in a press statement: “It’s so easy to let the challenges of the world harden you. The hardest thing to do is to fight against it — to stay soft. To protect your softness and the things that you love.”

Soft will follow the group’s 2023 LP, A Beautiful Blur, which included songs such as “Cause You Have To,” “Sugar and Cinnamon,” and “Alonica.” The new album will also come after Klein survived a near-fatal car accident last summer.

“I have a very new perspective on life now,” he told Rolling Stone last October. “It sounds weird to say, but I’ve had the best summer of my entire life, and it’s been mainly spent on a lawn chair right there, reading and slowing down. If I hadn’t been hit by a car, I wouldn’t have had the summer that I had to slow down and process things. I feel like I’m more aware of my surroundings, and maybe not like racing my way through every single moment.”
