Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock Will Star in Upcoming Romantic Thriller

Noah Oppenheim, who wrote Jackie, is tied to pen the new film, which THR described as “propulsive”

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock together again! On Friday, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the two actors — who starred in 1994’s Speed — will be joining forces again as the leads for an upcoming, untitled romantic thriller at Amazon MGM Studios.

The project reconnects the two actors with Speed producer Mark Gordon. Noah Oppenheim, who wrote the 2016 biopic Jackie, will write the script for the film. Although there are no details about the plot, it was described as “propulsive” to THR.

Bullock via Fortis Films, Reeves, Gordon, and Bibby Dunn through the Mark Gordon Company are set to produce the project, along with Oppenheim and Sarah Bremner with Prologue Entertainment.

According to the outlet, Speed grossed over $350 million, which is over $750 million when adjusted for inflation. It was one of the biggest action movies of the Nineties and spawned a sequel that was not as well-received. Along with Speed, Reeves and Bullock starred together in 2006’s The Lake House, marking a reconnection between the two stars.

The pair of actors have always had great onscreen chemistry, with Reeves and Bullock previously revealing on the Ellen Show that they harbored mutual crushes while filming the thriller hit. “She obviously didn’t know I had a crush on her either,” Reeves said. “We were working! … It was nice to go to work. She’s such a wonderful person.”

Reeves most recently voiced Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog and starred in 2023’s action film, John Wick: Chapter 4. The actor is also tied to From the World of John Wick: Ballerina and Good Fortune, both scheduled to release this year. For her part, Bullock last starred in The Lost City and Bullet Train as Maria Beetle back in 2022.
