JP Saxe Will Raise Money for LA Fire Victims During NYC Benefit Show

JP Saxe was planning to do a single release celebration for his upcoming song “Safe,” but instead, he’s pivoting to support those in need out in Los Angeles. On Thursday, the singer announced NY for LA, a benefit on Jan. 22 at Bowery Ballroom to raise money for wildfire relief.
“WTF is the point of a song about the way I wanna make the people I love feel ‘safe’ if we don’t actually do some shit,” the singer wrote on Instagram. “So Wednesday night at Bowery Ballroom. All proceeds going to people affected by the fires. I’ll play you new songs, maybe some friends pull up (if you want to be involved in any way, in person or otherwise, please hit me),” he added. “We’ll raise a bunch of money and show some NY love to our LA family.”
Tickets for the Jan. 22 show are on sale for $28.70 with “100% of proceeds donated to Mutual Aid LA.” Saxe shared on his Instagram story that the event would be his “first full show in a long time.”
The concert comes a week after Saxe shared a GoFundMe link for his “closest collaborator” Ryan Marrone, who lost his house to the Altadena Fire. As of publication, the fund had reached more than $95,000 in donations.
“He and En’dea are my family (and the parents of my godkids) and their house and recording studio are completely gone,” he wrote at the time. “If you’d like to support a family that my music doesn’t exist without, I’ve linked to their gofundme in my story. this is all just so fucked.”
“Safe” will mark Saxe’s first single since collaborating with Carla Morrison on “Anywhere” in 2023. He also released his album, A Grey Area, that year. Saxe also released a live album — Live on Stage — recorded in different cities on his tour last year.
Saxe is one of many in the music community setting up benefit concerts in wake of the fires. There’s most notably FireAid, an Irving Azoff-produced benefit show in Los Angeles, which announced performers including Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Jelly Roll, Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry, and Stevie Nicks.
