Godcaster Share New Single Produced by Of Montreal, 2025 Tour Dates

When we last heard from them, the buzzy New York art-rock band Godcaster were making unsettling, doomy noise on their self-titled 2023 album and conjuring one of the freakiest spectacles at SXSW 2024. But it’s always been clear that they’re a band with little interest in doing any one thing for too long, and on their latest single, they take on a new form as a twisted sunshine-pop group.
“Judy Living Daylights,” out now, was produced by Of Montreal‘s Kevin Barnes, and with its swooning vocals and jittery grooves, it wouldn’t have felt out of place as a B side to The Sunlandic Twins. Lead singer Judson Kolk coos sweet nothings about birds, bees, and Elvis while a matchbox orchestra swells around him. There are lyrical allusions to morphine and a pretty, romantic melody. It’s strangely entrancing stuff that leaves you wanting to hear more.
Godcaster have also announced a four-night residency at the new Manhattan venue Night Club 101, as well as a month-long run opening for Chicago’s Horsegirl, who just released a fantastic new album. Find those dates below.
