Meghan Markle releases trailer for Netflix Christmas special

Meghan Markle’s holiday episode has just landed on Netflix, yet celebrity chef Jameson Stocks was far from dazzled by the shimmering festive debut. The chef, who has cooked for King Charles, and was recently honoured with a King’s Trust award, did not hold back in his scathing assessment when the Express asked for his verdict.

Jameson, known for his no-nonsense standards in the kitchen, didn’t mince his words as he dismissed the episode as dull, questioned Meghan’s foodie credentials and even implied viewers only stay tuned in the hope Prince Harry might appear. From the very first moment, he says the feeling of déjà vu was immediate – and far from flattering.

The chef shared: “It’s the same old, dull routine. A sluggish, predictable episode stretching the previous season’s boredom, filled with pointless name-dropping and meaningless recipe segments.”

“Honestly, I think viewers only stick around to catch a glimpse of Prince Harry at the end – who inexplicably wanders into someone else’s kitchen and suddenly appears behind her at the stove,” he added.

And according to Jameson, Meghan’s on-screen kitchen style is less “Duchess Domesticity” and more “culinary chaos”.

Jameson didn’t hold back as he criticised the former Suits star, warning that she “should stay far away from the kitchen.”

The chef said he was left appalled by her gourmet attempts and hygiene standards, explaining, “Frankly she said she would remove the Gougères from the baking mat to halt the cooking, but instead, she piled them on top of each other – an absolute no-no.”

He added that the basics were still amiss: “To make matters worse, they were still cold when they came out of the oven. Meanwhile, she made a mess mixing the chocolate while wearing her expensive jewellery and then proceeded to taste it with her fingers.”

And as for the festive tips, Meghan says viewers can try at home, but Stocks wasn’t convinced. “I think her cooking tips are as pointless as the cooking tips in previous season – doing a wreath out of green vegetables took me over the edge in tackiness.”

Despite Meghan’s frequent assertions that she’s confident in the kitchen, Jameson argues the footage tells a very different story. “You have to remember this episode was filmed last year. She may be somewhat of a foodie and enjoy food, but I don’t think she should have a platform to show people such crap.”

He also questioned why the series is even categorised the way it is, slamming the streaming giant.

Jameson continued, “Netflix lists this series under their food and travel category, but I don’t understand the travel aspect. Is it because she’s cooking in a stranger’s home?”

They also describe it as relaxing and feel-good, but honestly, that feels like blatant lies. It should be labelled as torturous and frustrating instead of trying to sugarcoat it – I just think to myself, what a waste of money Netflix spent here.”

The chef now suspects Meghan may be leaning into the chaos deliberately. “Having watched her cooking methods and unorthodox style should we say I am actually starting to believe that she does it like that just to spark a public reaction for talking points,” he shared.

Jameson Stocks’s final verdict:

When asked what advice he’d give Meghan if she insists on continuing the series, he delivered a final, cutting review of her multi-million-dollar venture.

“The best advice I can offer her is to stay true to herself. Throughout the episodes I’ve watched, she has often come across as insincere and naive. The overly formulaic persona and poor-quality content on such a platform is shocking.”

He added: “The Meghan project on Netflix has been a complete failure. From terrible ratings and negative reviews to the fact that not even featuring top chefs and personalities could save the show, her personality and so-called star power is obviously not as strong as she thinks.”

“Netflix seems to be distancing itself from her and her brand. This has been a $100 million flop. Even in the final moments, when she’s celebrating the crew, it feels contrived and forced, making me, and I’m sure others, uncomfortable to watch – somebody might say this is a long drawn out goodbye from her Netflix deal, but I am 100% sure she’s going to pop up again on another platform in the near future reinvented… the question is will it be any good? Because it can’t be as bad as this.”
