Ella Langley Sets a Record with ‘Choosin’ Texas,’ Ties Harry Styles

With a 15-week run atop the Hot 100, Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has now passed songs by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey
Ella Langley may have lost her man to a woman from Texas, but she just caught Harry Styles. Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” (which, we think, is the Song of the Summer) has now surpassed Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” in chart domination, logging a record-setting 15 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, as the only non-holiday song by a woman to hold the title. She’s now tied with Styles and “As It Was,” and is seven weeks behind Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” with 22 weeks.
How long will Langley be able to hold onto her record-setting run? We have approximately 14 weeks to go until Carey will declare it Christmas season, when “All I Want for Christmas” could pop back up on the charts. But that’s plenty of time for Langley to rack up enough weeks to set an all-time record, regardless of genre or gender. Currently, she’s in good position to surpass her country tourmate Morgan Wallen and “Last Night” (16 weeks) and even Lil Nas X (“Old Town Road,” with 19).
But the Alabama native does have other contenders at her heels. Taylor Swift and “I Knew It, I Knew You” is right behind at Number Two, followed by the fast-rising Stella Lefty and “Boston,” at Number Three, which seems to be making sizable jumps each week. (The catchy song was previously clocking in at Number Six.)
Langely’s Dandelion Tour, where she has been heavily platforming other female artists, stops at the BankNH Pavilion in Gilford, New Hampshire, on July 30.
