Dua Lipa, Troye Sivan Remix ‘Physical’ for ‘Future Nostalgia’ Anniversary

“It always felt like it needed an occasion and this feels like it’s the perfect time,” Dua Lipa shared about timing the release to the fifth anniversary of Future Nostalgia
“Physical,” the pandemic-era defining Dua Lipa single, opens with the singer sharing an observation and a question: “Common love isn’t for us/We created something phenomenal/Don’t you agree?” As the fifth anniversary of her breakthrough album Future Nostalgia arrives, Lipa presents the question to Troye Sivan, the surprise guest collaboration on the newly-released “Physical” remix.
“We’re verging on the edge of spiritual/You’re deeper than you thought, it’s a miracle/Don’t you agree?” Sivan sings on his added verse. “Can you evеn believe? Ayy, ayy/Baby, I can lovе you all night/If you ask me to —, I might/Babe, get a taste of the moment/Stay up ’til the early morning, yeah/My final fantasy.”
Months before Lipa had her stateside breakout with “New Rules” in 2017, she joined Sivan as the opener for his Blue Neighbourhood tour. Since then, she has released three full-length studio albums and become a three-time Grammy Award winner, including Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album for Future Nostalgia.
“Thank you for the memories that I have to last me a lifetime ~ keeping me dancing all around the world,” Lipa wrote about the fifth anniversary of the album. “Grateful beyond words and thanking my lucky stars every day for music and the power that it has over me and the ability that it has had time and time again to connect us all no matter where we are on this floating rock!!!!”
She contined: “To celebrate this massive milestone in my life I’m sharing a version of Physical that @troyesivan and I worked on together years ago and it always felt like it needed an occasion and this feels like it’s the perfect time.”
Lipa announced the collaboration when Sivan joined her for a surprise performance of his Something to Give Each Other single “Rush” at the Melboune, Australia stop on the Radical Optimism tour last weekend. “Can we trust you to leak this?” Lipa asked a fan as she handed over a USB drive holding the “Physical” remix. It surfaced online within hours and an official release date was announced earlier today.
