DJ Premier, Roc Marciano Announce Joint EP, Drop Song ‘Armani Section’

DJ Premier and Roc Marciano joined forces for their first collaborative track, “Armani Section,” while also announcing an upcoming joint EP in the works. The joint venture will be released later this year but a date has yet to be announced.
According to a press release, the song is “a declaration that true luxury and authenticity in music never goes out of style, is never dated; and you can never have enough of it.”
In the opening verse, Roc drops, “Bagged the cashier wearing cashmere/That’s 20 racks for a jacket and some khaki pants/Bummy rappers with bunny rabbit ears/You mad I’m a money magnet,” before declaring: “If it’s me and Preem, then it’s a smash hit, like summer madness.”
The duo previously collaborated on PRhyme 2, with Roc guesting on “Respect My Gun.” This new single collab, however, teases at bigger things to come with their EP on the way.
“True Story. Several years ago I was shopping at Macy’s in Herald Square and I was passing the ‘Armani Section,’ when I see Roc Marci there and he asks me when are we gonna do a record together” Premier recalled in a statement. “I told him we would eventually get to it. Fast forward a few years later, right before Christmas 2024, I gave him a call and told him it was time to get to it. I reminded him of that day, and he said that should be the title of the record. The tone was officially set.”
“‘Armani Section’ is gutter and expensive. Everything you’d expect from a Preemo and Marci joint” Roc added.
In November, Gang Starr released “Finishem,” which incorporated vocal lines recorded by MC Guru, one half of the duo alongside Premier, before his death in 2010. The song debuted on the fifth anniversary of the group’s LP, One of the Best Yet, which marked the Gang Starr’s first new music in 16 years when it dropped in 2019.
“The album is special on so many different levels; what it meant to me, Guru’s family, and the fans, it warranted something new to honor the occasion,” Premier said in a statement at the time.
Roc, meanwhile, dropped Marciology last year, which Rolling Stone named one of the best hip-hop albums of 2024, calling the offering “another excellent collection of Roc Marciano’s one-of-one rhymes over a diverse variety of beats.”
