Claudia Winkleman’s trench coat from M&S is ‘beautifully made’

Claudia Winkleman fans have gone wild on Instagram over a photograph of her wearing the new Jaeger trench coat from Marks and Spencer. 

An expert at carrying off unique, grungy looks, The Traitors and Strictly Come Dancing presenter often opts for monochromatic outfits that include designer pieces. She works alongside M&S as an ambassador for their clothing, which means fans can steal her style at more reasonable costs than her usual high-end picks, and she featured on Marks and Spencer‘s Instagram page last week, wearing the Jaeger Pure Cotton Belted Trench Coat.

The trench coat is one of the most versatile pieces we’ve seen Claudia wear, in a neutral camel shade that could easily be mixed and matched with a variety of outfits. It does cost £199, so it’s a higher price point than most of M&S’ own brand clothing, but it is actually from Jaeger, which is a mid-range concession at M&S.

The lightweight cotton material is probably not appropriate for the current colder weather, however, spring is around the corner, which is when trench coats seem to remain on trend year after year – and it’s water-repellent, so it can withstand a few spring showers if needed too.

Commenting on the Instagram post, one of Claudia’s fans said: ”Noooo I don’t need any more coats…but now I need this one”. [SIC]

M&S shoppers who’ve invested in the trench coat are leaving reviews online too, with one commenting: ”Really stylish trench coat. Timeless classic. Tried on in-store, then ordered online as I decided this was a worthy investment piece. Went for a size 12 so I can wear jumpers underneath..”

Another added: ”I dithered about this cost because of the price – but it really is beautifully made. It is quite heavy – more like gabardine. It is very long – ok for me at 5’7”. If you are looking for a quality trench – this is for you.”

If £199 is out of budget for you, you don’t have to look far, as M&S has the Cotton Rich Belted Longline Trench Coat coming in at £79 – so it’s less than half the price.

At a fraction of the cost, Debenhams has the In The Style Beige Longline Belted Trench Coat which costs £55 and comes in a wide range of sizes, which are all still available, but the description does say to consider sizing down. The button detail and maxi length are similar to the M&S trench, and the shade is still neutral, but a slightly lighter beige rather than camel.
