Bringing Up Bates Alum Katie Bates’ Husband Apologizes for Affair

Bringing Up Bates alum Katie Bates’ husband, Travis Clark, admitted that he had been unfaithful in their marriage.
“This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology. I was unfaithful to my wife,” Clark, 24, wrote in a statement shared via his Instagram Stories on Saturday, January 17. “I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust. There is no excuse for what I did.”
He added, “This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know that words don’t begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I’ve brought into her life, but I am truly sorry.”
Bates, 25, and Clark have been married since December 2021, later welcoming kids Hailey and Harvey in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
“I’m sorry for the pain, humiliation and betrayal I caused my wife through my choices,” the nursing student continued in his social media statement. “I understand that an apology doesn’t repair what I broke and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for.”
Clark further revealed that he is “taking responsibility” for his actions by seeking an undisclosed type of help.
“I am taking responsibility by getting help and doing the work to change and become a more honest and accountable man, regardless of [the] outcome,” Clark said. “I ask for privacy and grace for Katie as she processes this in her own time.”

Bates has not publicly addressed Clark’s confession. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.
Hours before Clark’s admission, Bates revealed that she had suffered a pregnancy loss.
“I will spend the rest of my life missing you,” she wrote via Instagram on Friday, January 17, sharing footage from her pregnancy. Bates included clips of Clark at the time, highlighting the moment they found out that they were expecting before being seen crying in a hospital room.
Katie is one of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ 19 children, who followed in her famous family’s tradition of courtship. Us exclusively confirmed in 2020 that Katie started courting Clark after meeting through mutual friends when they were both 19.
“Travis and his family are active in their local church and also travel together to sing, so our families have been able to visit at nearby concerts and church events,” Katie told Us at the time. “Travis and I are so thankful that the Lord, not only allowed our paths to cross, but that we have been able to begin this new phase of our journey together.”
She continued, “Travis made the evening [he asked to court me] so special, and right now, I feel like the luckiest girl on the planet.”
Clark eventually relocated from his native New Jersey to Katie’s home state in Tennessee. They got engaged in April 2021, tying the knot the following December.
“This day has been worth all of the waiting, all of the dreaming and even worth all of the work of wedding planning, with its occasional stresses and anxieties,” Katie and Clark told Us after their wedding day. “It’s been worth every moment, and we really can’t believe we are actually married! We know we still have a lot to learn about marriage and relationships, but we are excited to spend our lives learning and growing together.”
