Celebrity chef Bobby Flay made a significant proclamation concerning the holiday segment of his “Beat Bobby Flay: Holiday Throwdown,” a cooking contest show that has won the hearts of many on the Food Network. Popular guest Carson Kressley, an audience favorite, will be appearing in the episode. Flay and Kressley have created a marketing video wherein they talked about their favorite holiday traditions in New York City.

During the video shot on the holiday set, Kressley’s lip balm application is caught on camera right before he divulges his most favorite holiday activities in New York City. “We are at the Beat Bobby Flay holiday edition set,” Kressley says to start. “So we would have to see what everyone’s favorite holiday thing in New York is. Mine is shopping, I know it sounds shocking!” He then goes on to list his secret places to shop focusing the attention on the splendid window displays of Bergdorf Goodman and the traditional process at Macy’s. He even wished that Saks Fifth Avenue would bring back their legendary outdoor light show this year—a light display that was absent in the last holiday season. Their humorous interactions, along with an insider’s perspective, quickly drew in the audience.

The announcement was made and it produced a lot of positive buzz, one of the main points of discussion being Kressley’s participation. A person made the general sentiment clear with his words, ‘If Carson is there… so am I. I love when he is on.’ A second person did not hesitate to share their take, ‘Carson just makes everything fun!’ More of Kressley’s comments were basically demands posed by the public through some comments like: ‘I need some more Carson in my life’ and ‘I wish Carson was more of a regular on FN. Him being there is just funny funny funny.’

No doubt, Kressley’s enthusiasm was not the only one that day. A bunch of people told their long-time affection for Bobby Flay. One of the viewers commented, ‘Bobby is one of my favorite chefs!!! Fun to watch him and all that come on the show run around cooking!!!’ Another viewer who was so energized by the promo video shouted, ‘Omg my favorite host for BBF Holiday Throwdown! I’ll get the lip balm ready!’ The preview clip also stirred up memories of holidays gone by. A former New Yorker, for instance, was in total agreement with Kressley about shopping, stating, ‘From a New Yorker living in Allentown, PA yes shopping is my thing too especially at Christmas with all the beautiful windows.’ While another one was more specific with the place and the time in New York, ‘Definitely strolling through the Village at 2:00am – everyone is loud & fun – & getting an espresso & a cannoli from a cranky night owl.’

The audience feedback, however, was a bit mixed, and some comments were outright positive while others more sarcastically critical. One user picked up on a comment that might have been made off-camera and expressed his disillusionment. ‘You just said that was the first time you saw Geoffrey Zakarian tip anyone… And it was supposed to be funny… But that’s not funny at all… I’ve just lost so much respect for him,’ the user wrote, implying that not all behind-the-scenes stories are liked universally. ‘Beat Bobby Flay: Holiday Throwdown’ is yet another portion of intense cooking competition and the charming hosting that has come to be associated with the show, only this time it is wrapped in a festival theme. The great response to Carson Kressley’s role shows the audience accepted the Flay-Kressley chemistry which is a major attraction for the loyal viewers of the show. The special will be broadcast at 8 PM Eastern Time today.
