Princess Kate’s state visit tiara gave iconic royal ‘headaches’ | Royal | News

The tiara, estimated to be worth around £1million, features diamonds and pearls, and has been worn by various royals through the years, including Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana.
It was made in 1914 by royal jeweller Garrard for Queen Mary of Teck – the late Queen Elizabeth’s grandmother.
But despite its beauty, the stunning piece is said to have some side effects as well.
The tiara is known to cause a very bad headache, and not just to those who receive it from the vault.
Weighing 2.2oz, the glittering piece is said to be uncomfortable for the wearer, as well as noisy due to the swinging pear-shaped pearls.
Princess Diana would regularly wear it due to its density and it would often cause her headaches.
Maxwell Stone, of Steven Stone, said: “Though an incredible piece, the tiara has its cons, and it’s claimed to have been so heavy that it hurt the late Princess of Wales’ head, giving her headaches – it’s also said to be noisy due to the swinging pearls.
“The fact that it’s so heavy that it hurt Princess Diana’s head indicates that it’s a valuable tiara, embellished with the finest quality diamonds and pearls.”
