Peter Murphy Cancels Summer Tour Dates Due to ‘Recent Health Issues’

“This situation is hopefully temporary,” the Bauhaus frontman said in a statement
Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy has canceled his upcoming tour dates, citing “recent health issues.” The musician recently released Silver Shade, his first solo album since 2014.
“It is with regret that, due to recent health issues, I will be unable to perform for you this summer,” Murphy wrote in a statement shared on Instagram. “I am very much saddened by this news. This situation is hopefully temporary, and we will be able to announce shows in support of Silver Shade at some point in the near future. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.”
Murphy was set to perform at several festivals in the U.K. and Europe between June and August. The musician has been forced to cancel or reschedule multiple tours and live performances over the past few years. In 2019, he postponed his residency at New York venue Le Poisson Rouge after suffering a heart attack. In 2022, Bauhaus, who had recently reformed, canceled a run of North American show because Murphy was “entering a rehabilitation facility to attend to his health and well-being.”
In early 2023, his Celebrating David Bowie tour was rescheduled after Murphy underwent an unexpected medical procedure. He later dropped out of the tour “due to ill health and doctor’s orders to rest and recover.” Last year, that tour’s U.K. and European leg was canceled because Murphy had “suddenly taken ill.”
Last November, Murphy teamed up with Boy George for a collaborative track, “Let the Flowers Grow.” “I first met Boy George when he asked to be allowed backstage to meet Howard Devoto when Bauhaus were supporting Magazine,” ” Murphy told Rolling Stone. “He struck me as a super-original, self-styled 17th century fop. The second time I met him was when we walked into the BBC to do ‘Ziggy Stardust’ on Top of the Pops where Culture Club were also making their debut on the show. George greeted me very warmly and I discovered he was a Bauhaus fan.”
