Watch Linkin Park Perform at UEFA Champions League Final in Munich

The band also played recent songs “Heavy Is the Crown” and “The Emptiness Machine” during the kick-off show
Linkin Park performed as part of the kick-off show at the UEFA Champions League final in Munich on Saturday night. The rock band showcased four songs — “The Emptiness Machine,” “In The End,” “Numb” and “Heavy Is The Crown” — for the crowd at Munich Football Arena ahead of the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.
The show comes ahead of the band’s world tour in support of last year’s LP From Zero. The North American leg of the tour kicks off on July 29 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Linkin Park will then circle the nation throughout August and September — including a massive Dodger Stadium concert with Queens of the Stone Age on the bill — before the U.S. leg concludes Sept. 24 in Seattle.
Linkin Park kicked off their reunion tour last fall despite protests from the late Chester Bennington’s son and mother and a Danny Masterson-related controversy around new vocalist Emily Armstrong. The band’s most recent album, From Zero, is their first since 2017’s One More Light.
The band officially added Armstrong to their lineup last September. At the band’s first performance in their new incarnation, frontman Mike Shinoda told the audience, “We are thrilled to be back out here. It is not about erasing the past. It is about starting this new chapter into the future and coming out here for each and every one of you. We loved writing this music. We are very fuckin’ excited about the new record. So thank you guys very much. We had an incredible night with you.”
Shinoda later spoke about about Bennington’s death and what it’s been like to perform with Linkin Park without him during an appearance on The Tonight Show. “I think the important thing for us is that we never set out to, like, ‘Let’s bring the band back’ or ‘Let’s find a singer,’” he explained. “That was never our intention or our goal.”
