£43 cream hailed ‘over 60s secret weapon’ is ‘best’ for mature skin

With so many moisturisers, creams and serums out there, it can be hard to know what actually works – which is why it’s well worth looking at customer reviews for first-hand intel. Now, one product is catching attention with one shopper dubbing it an ‘over 60s secret weapon’.
The Prai Platinum Firm & Lift Crème 50ml costs £43 from M&S, and is specifically designed to combat the effects of ageing on skin. It’s powered with ultra-hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which Prai promises can ‘unleash plumper, firmer, younger-looking skin in just 7 days’.
Plus, it contains platinum – which Prai says ‘delivers antioxidants and helps fight free radicals and environmental aggressors’, while the addition of almond proteins ‘tighten and firm the skin’. It’s designed to be used after customers wash their face in the morning and evening, avoiding the eyes.
As an alternative, shoppers could look at the Vitamin E Moisture Day Cream, which costs £18 for 50ml from The Body Shop. This moisturiser contains hyaluronic acid and raspberry seed oil, and promises to feel ‘weightless’ on the skin.
Otherwise, Kiehl’s has a sale on its cult favourite Ultra Facial Cream – it currently costs £52, down from £65 for 125ml. This moisturiser is said to provide up to 24 hours of hydration, and is suitable for all skin types.
Customers have raved about the Prai Platinum Firm & Lift Crème, with an average 4.6 star rating from 200 reviews. One person called it an ‘over 60s secret weapon’, before stating: “The best way to care for mature skin-easy to apply, absorbed quickly and exceptional results.”
Another said: “Great cream for face: rich and moisturising, can see a reduction in wrinkles already!” While a third chimed in: “Excellent moisturiser. Feels quite ‘thick’ but absorbs really well. My skin has definitely improved since I’ve been using this, previously it was looking a bit ‘flat’ and dull.”
However, skincare is extremely personal, and one customer said as part of a longer review: “Personally I find it rather sticky in comparison with Prai’s original cream.” Another said within their review: “Nice thick cream which goes on easily and feels very soft on skin.
“However, the only negative I have found is once you apply foundation on top of it, there seems to be a “bobbly effect” layer remaining on your skin and has to be wiped off, and that obviously takes away the foundation layer.”
