This classic Estée Lauder fragrance has 50% off

Some perfumes are instant show-offs, all punch and projection from first spray. Modern Muse by Estée Lauder is more of a quiet compliment-getter that isn’t overpowering on first spritz. Thanks to the zesty mandarin notes, it smells like you’re walking through an Andalusian garden, and then it settles into something a bit more floral. For me, it’s a lovely summery scent.
I was excited when I spotted it was on offer at Boots for half price. At £42.50 for a 50ml bottle (down from £85), it’s cheaper than buying it directly from Estée Lauder.
The first thing you notice is that aforementioned uplifting hit of citrus. Then there’s jasmine in there, a hint of vanilla, and some light woods underneath. It’s not too sweet and not too floral. The bottle also has that classic Estée Lauder polish: simple, sleek, and looks stylish on a dressing table.
I find it lasts all day on me without being too overwhelming, and I nearly always get a “you smell nice” comment when I’ve got it on. And I’m not alone, one shopper said: “I get so many compliments when I wear this. It’s beautiful and subtle but noticeable.” Another wrote: “Fresh, clean and long-lasting – I’ve worn it for years and it never gets old.” Not everyone agrees, though, one reviewer felt it didn’t quite hit the mark for them: “I bought this and couldn’t smell it on myself at all. Maybe it just didn’t suit my skin.”
That’s the thing with perfume – it really is personal. But if you’re after an elegant everyday scent with some warmth and staying power, and you’re curious to try something new (or re-stock an old favourite), this could be a good time to grab it.
