It’s always a good time to be a Deadhead, but right now might just be the best time yet thanks to Alice + Olivia’s new Grateful Dead collection. The New York–based brand is teaming up with the iconic rock band for the second time (the first collab dropped back in 2016) to release a fresh lineup of Deadhead-inspired jackets, jeans, and dresses that hit just the right note between groovy and glam.
“Created in honor of the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary, the capsule celebrates their lasting legacy of community, acceptance, kindness, and joy. The Dead’s influence extended beyond music; they built a community that dressed the music and, in turn, spread their message. Tie-dye, hand-patched denim, and dancing bears moved from graphics to a shared code of belonging, signaling openness, kindness, and improvisation wherever Deadheads gathered,” the brand shared in a release.
The new drop nails that tricky balance of not too kitschy, and just the right amount of chic. Some standout pieces? The leather moto jacket that screams “she’s with the band”, the bear-covered Bradford cardigan, and the light-wash, patch-stamped jeans that feel like you found them at a vintage spot in the East Village. Every piece feels elevated and versatile, equally situated for cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway or dancing until 4 a.m. at a New York City club. Like all of Alice + Olivia’s designs, the craftsmanship is top-tier.
Prices start around $250 for the Grateful Dead tee and go up to $1,795 for the ballgown (no, you did not misread that). Everything runs true to size, according to the brand’s site.
For those who are new here (where have you been since 1965?), the Grateful Dead were founded by Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Ron “Pigpen” McKernan. They became rock icons for their laid-back vibes, fresh sound, and devoted fans who’d follow them from venue to venue. Their classics — “Truckin’,” “I Need a Miracle,” and “Terrapin Station” — are still just as popular today. And since 2015, Dead & Company (featuring John Mayer alongside original members) has kept the good feelings going.
Grateful Dead collabs are nothing new. We’ve seen them everywhere from $30 tees at Walmart to coastal-cool drops with Vineyard Vines and even the NBA. But Alice + Olivia’s take is on another level — this isn’t concert merch, it’s a mood.
And speaking of iconic collabs, this isn’t Alice + Olivia’s first time in the music realm. They’ve also teamed up with The Beatles in 2018 and then again in 2024.
We wouldn’t wait too long to snag something from this drop. The only thing worse than missing a Grateful Dead show is missing out on this launch. We’re “truckin’” straight to checkout.
