Flamin’ Hot and Gentefied actress Annie Gonzalez portrays Rivera in Jenni, which follows her from her Long Beach, California childhood to her ascent as one of the most successful female artists in Mexican music.
“Jenni also shows the struggles that she endured in her personal life and how she became the artist fans all know and love today, and how she persevered and found strength from within,” producers added of the film. “This story of resilience and bravery shows the building blocks of what made Jenni Rivera who she was and the remarkable legacy she left behind.”
The biopic will premiere on both ViX and select theaters in the U.S. and Mexico next month. Rivera died at the age of 43 when her plane crashed near Monterrey, Mexico, in December 2012; seven people were killed in the crash in total.
