The clip spread like wildfire with Schneider making bold comparisons and jokes about how Clark has been treated in the WNBA.

Schneider wastes no time with his act. It is like “black girl in 1957 trying to join the University of Alabama.” Then, the comedian’s punchline veers off rather aimlessly, joking about how players who foul Clark get fined $15 and suspended for 10 days. Then the dark-horse controversial joke about Clark’s teammates came, triggering all sorts of reactions.

The comments section has turned into a whirlpool of differing opinions. One user showered praise for Schneider to the effect of “keeping it real”; another said the joke was “gold” for making the “blue-haired libs melt down.” There were some serious reactionaries. A number of comments sprang up to correct Schneider’s assumptions about Clark being a lesbian and said she had a long-time boyfriend. One of them wrote: “CC is straight, I think that’s why they are bullying her,” implying that Clark’s straight orientation was somehow a factor in the backlash she has been subjected to.

Another twist to the conversation went as far as disparaging Schneider’s film career, accusing him of “clowning” after effortfully having been “the hero of many films.” Defenders countered by saying that, hey, Adam Sandler still casts him! They probably keep away from Keller because of his outspokenness.

A host of comments went totally off the rails. One called out Trump, and another one commented in Portuguese for calling a Brazilian judge “um psicopata de toga” (a psychopath in a robe). In true internet spirit, some questioned why the video looked like it was “filmed in 1987.”

In solidarity, those who loved Schneider came to his defense. “Still funny as ever!!! Love ya Rob,” said one, while another tagged Clark herself with a vibe: “so many of us got you.”

CONTROVERSY HAS FOLLOWED CLARK ever since the lightning rod entered the WNBA scene, and while still dividing the public, Schneider’s take will either side with or stand as an indictment against the continued discourse on Clark’s treatment in the league, as he is bold and insensitive. And in classic fashion, he doesn’t quite care whom he hurts along the way.

The clip is all-black: aggressive and unapologetic, but with every intention of stirring the pot. Whether it clocks in at comedic or crosses over is going to be based entirely on who is watching, but people are talking-a boon for stand-up, if that was the plan.
