Ice Spice, Tokischa Dance in the Dominican Republic in ‘Thootie’ Video

“I definitely felt at home,” said Ice about visiting the Dominican Republic with Tokischa for the video
A catchy rap from Ice Spice over a dembow flow just makes sense. On Friday, the Dominican-American rap star released her single “Thootie” with Tokischa, on which she drops bars in Spanish for the first time.
“Rosadita el pelo y el pussy / I get money, me gustan los chuki,” raps Ice in one part of the song. “KLK, Toki? Andamo’ rulin / Dominicana making a movie / My ass too fat, no me cabe en el puchi.”
Ice and Toki shot the colorful Richard Cordones-directed video in the Dominican Republic, capturing the two stars dancing and singing through a colorful vecindario, posing in front of the Dominican flag, and soaking in the energy of other Dominican baddies just like them.
“This was a fun record for me. It’s the first time people are actually hearing me speak or rap in Spanish and it was fun to show another side of who I am, and it’s even more special that I got to do it with Toki,” Ice said in a press release. “We went to the Dominican Republic to shoot the video last month and it was a vibe. I definitely felt at home.”
Ice and Toki had been talking about wanting to record a song together, and when Ice sent her “Thootie,” she says she “instantly” wanted to join it. “I gotta give it to the producers, they did a great job with the beat, not everyone who didn’t grow up in the DR can make a dembow hot like that,” said Tokischa of RiotUSA’s production. “I loved working with Ice. She’s a sweetheart and a genuinely fun girl. I’m so proud of the video, and her coming to the DR after so long was very special to honor and respect the ‘bajo mundo’ culture.”
Thew new song follows Ice Spice’s viral “Big Guy” from the Spongebob Movie. She also released “Baddie Baddie,” joined Katseye for a remix of “Gnarly” and was tapped by Latto for “Gyatt.” For her part, Tokischa recently released “Muxaxa” with La Mas Doll” and dropped “Celos” and “Miami” from her upcoming album.
