Emily Maynard Addresses Ricki Hendrick’s First Pregnancy at Age 20

Emily Maynard broke her silence on her daughter Ricki Hendrick, 20, announcing her pregnancy.

The former Bachelorette, 39, appeared on Hendrick’s Instagram Story on Thursday, September 11, and joked the situation was “unforgivable.”

Hendrick shared a question from a follower, who asked the young mom-to-be what her family’s opinion was on her planning to welcome a “baby outside marriage.”

Maynard then appeared in the clip and read the question before sarcastically responding.

“Very against it,” she replied. “I cannot believe anybody would ever do that. Unforgivable.”

Directly after that post, Hendrick shared another video via her Instagram Story and was equally sarcastic when speaking about how her mother took the news of her pregnancy.

“My mom is truthfully so devastated, she’s so upset,” she sarcastically said as she panned the camera over new items Maynard had bought, including a new baby’s crib and book about grandmothers.

Hendrick continued, “She’s not excited at all for me to have a baby. She’s pissed, actually. She’s super angry. She can’t even look at me. She doesn’t support it at all. She is pissed.”

In a more sincere caption, Hendrick explained in text accompanying the footage, “These are all things she got on her own and she is not done. This is all stuff at her house too, not even my own.”

Hendrick announced she was expecting her first child via an Instagram Story posted on August 26.

Sharing a sonogram photo at the time, Ricki quoted Love Island USA’s Huda Mustafa, writing, “Netflix told me I’m not allowed to talk about it.”

She also shared a video of the baby moving and added, “My heart is so full, yet my stomach is so empty because she hates all food. I’m convinced.”

Since then, Hendrick has shared updates of her pregnancy journey along the way, including posting a sonogram of her baby girl on Wednesday, September 10, after a routine pregnancy checkup.

“Anatomy scan with a baby that loves to hide her face,” Hendrick wrote via her Instagram Story.

In another post, Hendrick said she wanted to take home as many of the images as possible.

“Had to go back 2 hours later to try and get all of them,” she wrote. “The only thing I noticed is how my angel, perfect gift from God, has some very noticeable ears.”

Maynard was engaged to Hendrick’s father, Ricky Hendrick, when he died in an airplane accident in 2004 at 24 years old. After his death, Maynard discovered she was pregnant with her first child. Maynard was 19 when she welcomed daughter Josephine Riddick Hendrick — whom she calls Ricki in honor of her late fiancé.
