Carrie Underwood’s 2024 ‘Sunday Night Football’ Opening: Watch

The country star has been singing “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” for 12 seasons of NFL action
It’s been 12 seasons and Carrie Underwood is still waiting for the end of the weekend. The country star kicked off the 2024 season of on NBC with a revamped opening that put new emphasis on the chorus of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” the NFL’s SNF theme song built around Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”
As she’s done for the past 11 seasons, Underwood strutted her way through the highly produced opening segment, belting out lyrics about the specific teams doing battle on the gridiron and how, well, she can’t hardly wait for kickoff. In the first SNF game of the 2024-2025 season, the Los Angeles Rams faced off against the Detroit Lions, at Detroit’s Ford Field.
Underwood filmed this season’s opening from the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, where she’s currently performing her Reflection residency. “It was so much fun to welcome the Sunday Night Football team back to the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas,” she said in a statement. “Shooting the new show open is always something I look forward to, and [creative director Tripp Dixon] and the whole creative team brought it yet again, and we had a great day putting on an exciting new performance. Like everybody else, I’m waiting all day for Sunday night!”
In an interview with Yahoo, coordinating producer Rob Hyland said that this year’s SNF opening begins immediately with the song’s chorus. “We’re still going to see Carrie in concert. But let’s make it feel like she’s along with us on this national road show, this singular phenomenon that is Sunday Night Football,” he told Yahoo. “Let’s bring her along, we’re always on the road going from venue to venue. I think the one thing we really hadn’t done was bring Carrie into the fold.”
Earlier this summer, Underwood announced she was extending her Las Vegas residency into 2025. New performances of Reflection are set for March 26, 28, 29 and April 2, 4, and 5.
