Amazon drops price of ghd straighteners

You can now save money on one of premium hair brand ghd’s most well-reviewed tools, the Original Hair Straightener and Styler.

Amazon is offering a 21% discount on the item, which is reduced from £139 to £109.99. The early deal is available ahead of Amazon Spring Deal Days, which start tomorrow and end on March 31.

On the GHD website, the straighteners have a smaller discount, so they currently cost £124, or Lookfantastic is selling them for £118, so it’s the cheapest to buy them at Amazon right now.

The Original Hair Straightener and Styler has over 2,000 reviews and has been awarded a high 4.6-star rating overall.

After buying the hair straighteners, one happy shopper left a review stating: ”I don’t know why it took me so long to get some ghds. My hair is so much sleeker and stays straight and sleek for days after. My hair is prone to frizz when I use heat, but these pretty much eliminate the frizz!” [SIC]

Another Amazon shopper compared them to another brand, saying: ”From the first use, I noticed the ghd heats up quickly and glides through my hair effortlessly. I love the little sound effect it makes when it heats up and when turning it off—it’s a nice touch! It feels like an upgrade, delivering smooth, sleek results faster than my Babyliss. [They are] definitely worth the investment!”

This is because the straighteners have technology to constantly monitor and maintain what ghd describes as the optimum styling temperature of 185 degrees. This heat is said to be suitable for most hair types, so there is no temperature control option. However, one shopper felt this was a downside of the product.

In an Amazon review, they wrote: “However, one reviewer mentioned a limitation: ”Daughter loved them, but there is no heat control function.”

However, this is different from other straighteners, so it’s worth considering if you’re looking for a hotter temperature option.

The straighteners were first launched in 2001, but the design was upgraded three years ago. The new redesign has seen the weight of the hair tool reduced, so it is easier to use, which is said to avoid arm-ache while styling.

The straighteners also have a softer closing mechanism so they exert less pressure on the hair, which benefits its overall health. 

While they are the straighteners (as the name suggests) are primarily designed for straightening the hair, they can also be used for curly and wavy hairstyles.
