3 Popular Hulu Movies and TV Shows to Binge-Watch This Week (January 12-16)

If you love network TV shows, Hulu is the streamer to subscribe to during the regular season.
Two of the four major broadcast networks – ABC and Fox – have new seasons streaming on Hulu the day after their network debut.
That’s why two out of Watch With Us‘ picks for the three popular Hulu movies and TV shows to binge-watch are recently returned ABC series.
Our final pick of the week is an underrated comedy remake that hit theaters last year.
‘The Rookie’ (2018 – Present)
The Rookie lands at No. 1 on Hulu’s list this week, largely on the back of the season 8 premiere. Nathan Fillion has been starring on this show almost as long as he was on his previous ABC crime series, Castle. On this show, he plays Jonathan Nolan, the oldest rookie in the history of the LAPD. Although the name of the show is a bit of a misnomer now that Nolan is a training officer.
Season 8 opens with a wider scale, as Nolan and his wife, Bailey Nune (Jenna Dewan), take part in an inter-agency operation in Prague. The downside of that is that they have to protect Monica Steven (Bridget Regan), a corrupt criminal lawyer whom they despise. Monica’s immunity agreement requires her to help take down criminals who are bigger fish than she is, but that’s going to put Nolan and Bailey in danger as well when she’s marked for death. And that’s just in season 8’s first episode!
The Rookie is streaming on Hulu.
‘Will Trent’ (2023 – Present)
Like The Rookie, Will Trent is back for a new season starting this week. The title character is a brilliant investigator played by Ramón Rodríguez who is battling to hold on to his mental health in season 4. Will’s anger issues are boiling up more often, and his therapist, Dr. Roach (Margaret Cho), can only do so much if he doesn’t really accept that he needs help.
Will has a lot of reasons to be angry, including the fact that the love of his life, Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen), has moved on with another man. That’s kind of Will’s fault. But the thing that really boils his blood is that James Ulster (Greg Germann) – the man who murdered Will’s mother – has escaped from prison. Officially, Will’s not supposed to take part in the manhunt to recapture Ulster. Unofficially, that’s never stopped Will before and it won’t now.
Will Trent is streaming on Hulu.
‘The Toxic Avenger’ (2025)
If you grew up during the ’80s or ’90s, then you may remember the low-budget Troma horror comedies like The Toxic Avenger or Class of Nuke ‘Em High. The former received a modern remake earlier this year, with Game of Thrones‘ Peter Dinklage taking over the title role as Winston Gooze.
Winston’s a little bit more of a jerk in this incarnation, although he tries to do right by his stepson, Wade (Jacob Tremblay). But after being murdered and exposed to toxic waste, Winston is reborn as the Toxic Avenger (physically performed by Luisa Guerreiro and voiced by Dinklage). Toxie may have superpowers, but he’ll have his hands full with an evil businessman, Bob Garbinger (Kevin Bacon) and a local mobster, Thad Barkabus (Jonny Coyne).
The Toxic Avenger is streaming on Hulu.
