Two Hollywood superheroes are teaming up to bring a little happiness to the food and beverage space.
Spider-Man star Tom Holland and Iron Man’s Robert Downey Jr. have dropped a capsule collection of products inspired by Holland’s non-alcoholic beer brand, BERO, and RDJ’s happy coffee. The two brands come together in a limited-edition BERO Coffee Draught, and a happy “Eternal Hoptimist” ground coffee blend.
The Eternal Hoptimist blend features 100% arabica coffee beans from Brazil and Colombia that were chosen for their “hoppy” flavor profile (think notes of citrus and pine). The coffee is of course alcohol-free. As with all of Downey Jr.’s happy coffee products, the company says these beans were 100% responsibly sourced.
The BERO Coffee Draught, meantime, blends the toasty flavor of a classic stout-style beer with roasted coffee undertones. The result: a smooth and creamy sip with notes of malt, cocoa and a hint of nuttiness. Note: this is a non-alcoholic beer, though it does contain caffeine.
The beer is available on BERO’s website, while the coffee collab is available at Target. Both products are selling quickly and the limited-edition release is not expected to be restocked.
While Holland and Downey Jr. have shared the screen before, in films like Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and the Avengers movies, the two say this collaboration is personal.
“We’ve shared plenty of moments together on screen, but uniting happy and BERO has been a whole new kind of collaboration,” they tell Rolling Stone in a joint statement. “It started as a conversation between friends and grew into something that really reflects both of our worlds. happy has always stood for joy and ritual, and BERO brings the gold standard in taste and experience. Put them together and you get something rich, smooth, and a little unexpected in the best way.”
A press release says the two products are “built on authentic connection, brewed with intention, and crafted for limitless enjoyment.” The two actors, meantime, say they wanted to create something for everyone — and every time of day. “From AM to PM, both limited-edition products are the kind of thing you’ll want to enjoy with good company,” they say.
“My friendship with Tom stems from mutual support and respect, and this partnership is exactly that — sharing what we love and creating quality products in tandem,” Downey Jr. says.
Adds Holland: “This is the kind of collaboration you can only do with a friend. Robert knows coffee better than anyone, and we wanted to bring that same level of care to a beer that celebrates what both our brands stand for: quality, craft, and a premium experience in every sip.”
