Tom Hiddleston Reacts After Taylor Swift Mention on Live Radio

Tom Hiddleston was caught off guard when he was asked about his ex Taylor Swift during a live interview — by a radio host who seemingly forgot he dated her.

The actor, 44, appeared on the U.K.’s Heart Radio on Thursday, August 21 when Swift’s name was unexpectedly dropped.

Appearing alongside his The Life of Chuck costar Karen Gillan, Hiddleston was speaking about how he loves to dive into reading about sports online in his free time when host Devin Griffin interjected to bring up Swift’s own internet habits.

“I find myself on the sports highlights,” the Loki star said. “It’s football or if there’s been a tennis championship I’ve missed. There’s all these sports journalists who write really beautifully about sport, and I love reading what they’ve written.”

Griffin then brought up Swift, who reportedly loves reading NFL injury reports after becoming an “engulfed” fan of the sport since dating Travis Kelce, and mentioned her niche browsing habits.

“We did just find out — Taylor Swift, big fan of a sourdough recipe blog,” Griffin, 40, said. “Very, very specific but I see how you could get into that.”

Hiddleston was seemingly not expecting his former romantic partner’s name to be brought up and appeared to momentarily freeze before allowing his costar Gillan to take the lead in the response.

“That feels like an Easter egg for something,” Gillan, 37, said of Swift’s sourdough blog interest, before joking, “I think it might be something to do with the Super Bowl.”

The radio show later saw the funny side of the gaffe, posting the clip to the Heart FM TikTok page alongside the caption, “When you accidentally mention their ex…”

Swift and Hiddleston shared a brief romance after meeting at the Met Gala in May 2016. The pair dated for three months before calling it quits.

“She was the one to put the brakes on the relationship,” a source close to the couple told Us Weekly of the split at the time. “Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with. Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn’t listen to her concerns when she brought them up.”

In the years since their breakup, both Hiddleston and Swift have moved on. The “Shake It Off” singer has been happily dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce since summer 2023.

Meanwhile, the Marvel actor has been engaged to Zawe Ashton since 2022. The couple welcomed their first child that same year (they have not publicly revealed their child’s name or gender) and are currently expecting their second child.
