Actor sees ‘baby hair sprouting’ after taking supplements

Actor Scott McGlynn has shared a hair transformation, and he attributed the improvement to a supplement he got from LookFantastic. The 38-year-old, who starred in Gavin & Stacey and hosted a podcast series Celebrity Skin Talks, revealed to Daily Express that he has been taking The Nue Co. Growth Phase Hair Supplements, which is on 25% off discount.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Express, Scott said he was lucky growing up with thick hair, but recently he started to “see more scalp than ever” around the front and the crown and decided to take action and rebuild his confidence. The Nue Co. supplements, currently £48.75 for a 30-day serving, contain B vitamin biotin to enhance keratin production, collagen-rich egg membrane Biovabio to boost hair growth, alongside reishi mushroom to calm stress and anxiety.
Designed for people with thinning and slow growing hair that’s prone to breakages, Scott added the supplements into his daily routine and has been taking three capsules with breakfast every morning and after six to eight weeks, he saw a postive change.
Other than The Nue Co, Vida Glow’s Hairology (£36 for 30 capsules) is also a popular choice and it is formulated with active ingredient Anagain. Feel’s Hair Loss Support (£45.15 for 30 capsules) shares clinical results that reduce hair loss, restore the natural growth cycle and strengthen the hair from root to tip.
He shared: “Being on TV over the years, I’ve been lucky to work with some amazing hairdressers and stylists, people who really know hair and notice even the smallest changes. I’ll never forget one day, before I started taking the supplements, I actually broke down in the chair. I was so self-conscious about the thinning, and I just felt overwhelmed. It had been building up for a while.
“But honestly, after sticking with the supplements, around the 6–8 weeks, things started to shift. I saw baby hairs sprouting around my hairline, those little signs of growth that made such a big emotional impact. And even more reassuring, the hairdressers noticed too.
“They’d say, ‘Something’s changed, it’s looking fuller’, and that made me very happy. It wasn’t just in my head. The shedding slowed down, the texture felt stronger, and I started to feel a lot more confident in myself again. It’s been a journey, but one I’m really grateful for.”
An independent blind clinical test showed 90% of the participants see reduction in hair thinning, 87% said a reduction in hair breakage and 40% of them noticed an increase in hair growth.
Scott also mentioned that the supplements do not have a bad taste and he had no side effects, but he added: “If I’m being totally honest, the main concern for me is the price, especially when you’re taking three capsules a day. But it’s definitely an investment, and I see it as investing in myself. The other small thing is just remembering to take them every single day, I’d forget or miss a day here and there, which can be frustrating when you’re trying to stay consistent.”
He is now focusing on eating a better, protein-rich diet as well as making fruit smoothies in the morning to get his five-a-day in early. LookFantastic has dropped 25% on the price of The Nue Co. Growth Phase Hair Supplements and shoppers can get it at £48.75 instead of £65.
