The Killers Cover John Fogerty’s ‘Centerfield’: Watch

Band performed at baseball festival in Tempe, Arizona on Saturday
The Killers chose an apt song to cover during their Saturday appearance at Tempe, Arizona’s Innings Festival, a baseball-themed music fest that coincides with spring training. And the band totally got the assignment: choosing to perform John Fogerty’s “Centerfield.”
They made a grand entrance for their headline slot on the Home Plate stage to baseball sing-along “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” The band then launched into the title song from Fogerty’s 1985 album as lights flashed to the opening strut of the track. Flanked by a screen showcasing a baseball branded with the band’s K logo sitting on the field, Flowers proclaimed, “Put me in, coach/I’m ready to play today/Look at me, I can be centerfield.” The band was definitely ready to play, following up the cover with their enduring hit “Mr. Brightside.”
In the fall, the Killers covered the Beatles’ “I Want to Hold Your Hand” during their two-day stint at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens to pay tribute to the band who had played the same venue 60 years prior.
The Killers, whose last studio album was 2021’s Pressure Machine, will release a live recording of their 2022 three-song set with Bruce Springsteen for Record Store Day in April. The band is set to headline Summerfest 2025 in Milwaukee, with Megan Thee Stallion and Hozier among the other headliners who will hit the stage during the three-weekend event that kicks off in June.
