Lucy Dacus Posts Music Video Casting Call for ‘Hot Mascs in Your Life’

The singer previously teased the new song that she “dedicated to lesbians”
Lucy Dacus shared a music video casting call for a yet-to-be-named song on Tuesday. The singer previewed the new track last fall, and in a short TikTok video, the tune plays in the background while a sheet of paper with “Attention” scrawled across fills with details for fans (or friends of fans) interested in applying for the gig.
“I am seeking some people to be in the music video for this song,” reads the note. “If you are smooth or suave or pretend to be. Maybe you’re a hot masc. Maybe you are simply willing and able and not afraid to be on camera. Use this sound with a video of yourself looking cool and my team will reach out from this account by next week with more info.” The call added that while it’s “a little early to be sharing,” there’s a “specific window where we have to make this happen, so I hope you enjoy this little bit of Best Guess.”
The clip is signed by Lucy and captioned: “Casting call for music video, help me out, please send to the hot mascs in your life.”
In October, the boygenius member shared the track while taking the stage as a special guest during Julien Baker‘s show. Dacus prefaced the impromptu performance by saying at the time, “As if I needed more reason to get my heart rate up, I decided that I want to play a new song.”
“Happy Lesbian Day,” she added. “This song is dedicated to lesbians.”
In December, Dacus announced that she will be playing her first solo shows in more than two years in 2025. Dacus had spent most of 2023 on tour with fellow boygenius bandmates Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker. In her announcement for the upcoming shows, the artist promised it will be “mostly new songs.”
